Thurs: Curriculum Night
Sept 15th, 7:00pm
This night is for Parents only. We get to follow our student's class Schedule according to a "shorten day." (First hour lasts 10 minutes). So remember to print out their schedule and not to be tardy.

6th Grade WEB orientation

All sixth Graders welcome to Muir. Muir is starting the year off with Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) orientation is from 8am-12 on Thursday, September 1st. This 6th grade Orientation ends with a "Pizza with parents" at NOON. Hope to see you there.

Registration Make up Day

You can turn in green cards, take your pictures, receive your agenda, and pick up your schedule on Thursday, September 1st. Any time from 12:30-3:30pm. Or go to Family Access and see your schedule online!

• September 1, 6th graders WEB orientation Day- WEB stands for "Where Everyone Belongs". Sixth Graders come and enjoy the morning with us. Drop off is at 8:00am-12:00 noon. Lunch will be served after. Parents are welcomed to stay for pizza lunch at noon pick up.

• Sept 13, Parent Council Kickoff-Come for coffee and hear Mr. Lindberg chat about what we parents can do to stay informed and involved at Muir Middle School. Meeting starts at 1:45 pm in the Library.

• Sept 19th-23, Magazine sale-Muir's all school fundraiser to help support the "Extra's" for our kids. Money goes toward teacher appreciation, Technology items, and student aid. Look for more details to come.

Parent Coffee

This a great time to grab some cookies, coffee, and conversation. So come and visit Muir to tour the school and meet each other.

5th Grade Parent Orientation

Tuesday, 7pm
Parents of upcoming Muir 6th Graders visit and tour our school. This a great opportunity for parents to meet the staff and principals. Tell them to stop at the Muirpc Table and signup for updates about school events.

You may have multiple numbers under your child's name. This is a great way for extended family, friends, and co-workers to contribute to your student. Just make sure you email Becki and Alicia. So they can assign the proper numbers to your account!

Before Break Reminders

• Muir Open Enrollment Forms--Everyone wanting to open enroll to Muir must fill out a NEW application. There is no grandfathering. You must open enroll your student through the application found on the HVS website or go to this link. http://www.huronvalley.k12.mi.us/parentresources/enrollmentcontacts/openenrollment/ Applications are due April 18, 2011

• Muirpc Meeting--Mark your calendars for April 12th at 1:00pm. Mr. Lindberg and Mr. Borg, our next year's principals, will be the guest speakers at our next Muirpc meeting!
  

• Kroger Rewards for your DC student --You must re-enroll your Kroger card in order to qualify for May 2011- April 2012 reward cycle. See attachment for codes and go to krogercommunityrewards.com.
  

• QSP--Many of you are getting renewal notices for your magazines. Muir only profits if you renew your magazine through QSP.com. Magazines also make wonderful Easter and Mother's Day gifts! And remember, 40% of your purchase goes to Muir.

Leadership Dance

Leadership Class is needing Chaperones for Thursday's dance. Dance runs from 2:20-3:30 in Muir's Cafeteria. Set up and Clean up help is also needed.

Board Meeting Tonight

There is a board meeting at Milford High School tonight at 7:00pm. Several options will be discussed about the Middle School Situation.

Option 1--Close Highland or Muir
Option 2--Bring 5th grade up and make all middle schools 5-8
Option 3--Make an IA-from 6th grade to high School.

Please be respectful while in the meeting.

Board Dialogue is Canceled

Board Dialogue that was scheduled for February 3rd is canceled. Check out Muirpc.com or District Website for a rescheduled date.

Drop off your Taste of the Valley Donations

Muirpc is collecting wine and cheese items for the Taste of the Valley Auction. All proceeds go to Huron Valley's Youth Assistance. So if you have an extra bottle of wine lying about. Bring it up to the office for our Basket.

Board Meeting Feb. 3rd

Two more board meetings until the final decision. This week's meeting is at Lakeland @7:00pm on Thursday February 3rd. Please come. If you want to speak on the 5-8 model, fill out a citizen participation form before the meeting begins.

Please stay respectful and speak only on the positives about Muir not the other schools. See you there!

Middle School Forum

Discussing new option to bring 5th grade up to the Middle School level.

Board Meeting This Thursday!

Come to the board meeting at Lakeland High School this Thursday, January 13th at 7:00pm. The board will be discussing closing a school and splitting into 5/6 and 7/8 buildings. Write the board members your opinions.
